Change phone number pad color on Moto x

I've had my Moto X for a week. (Coming from an HTC incredible II that was a pretty good phone considering it's age.) Of course the Moto X is great!

The problem is, I have a hard time seeing the black background and blue numbers on the phonepad in sunlight conditions. What's worse, I cannot see the abc def etc. to type for a contact. In normal conditions it's fine, but outside it's difficult. Even with screen brightness on max.

Is there a way to change the phone pad color?

I've already changed the typing keyboard to TouchPal X for the same reasons and this program is great and much better than the stock keyboard for my purposes.

Have you tried any of the dozen or so other dialers available for free in the Play store? Some of them may have keypad colers with more contrast. (The one Samsung uses is black background and while characters, so it's pretty easy to see.)

No way of changing it unless you use a 3rd party app

I am using and loving the PixelPhone from the Play store, has many features and lot's of themes.

That's a VERY tasty app. I've been sitting here playing with it. There are a number of higher contrast themes that might make "in the sun" dialing easier.

I'll try it when the sun comes back up.

Thanks.

Thanks DonB. I loaded pixelphone and chose a theme that I think will work. I can't seem to make the app appear on my app list or widget so I'm a little confused how to get it to work, but sent a message to pixelphone so I'll wait to hear from them. Thanks to others for the suggestions.

Thanks so much Thom. I'm not sure why I didn't notice the Phone app in the rectangle. I appreciate everyone's help!

You're not alone ... it surprised me too.

When you upgrade to the paid version (and you will) there is another oddity. The paid version will be installed in addition to the unpaid version. So then you have three icons with the name Phone.

Not to derail but can this dialer insert the area code automatically? I use GV (with Voice Choice) and it needs a 10 digit code to work. Dialer One has the field/option to auto-add but it doesn't really work and the app has sort of been abandoned (but it's a great dialer). The Google Voice Callback app did it but I'm not using that right now.
Thanks and carry-on :)

It's the rectangular icon in app drawer with the name "Phone".

(I bought the pro version last night. It is "feature rich".)

Yup I have the pro version also and I love it

Yeah, the majority of my calls are made from contacts so it's there already. I do a lot of calling from Chrome/maps too so it's already there. I just never remember to punch it in manually then GV is bypassed. First world problem ☺

I did install/try it and a few others last night, none seem to have the ability to auto-add an area code. Of course I only tried the free or trial versions, so maybe the paid/donate versions would have it.
It's no big deal, it would just be a nice feature.

Edit:
I found Prefixer and it does add the area code. Now I just have to get it to play nice with Voice Choice, it's still bypassing GV. I think VC is kicking in before Prefixer. Getting there...

I submitted the idea as a suggestion to the developers of Pixel Phone Pro.

Now back to the dialpad. Did an alternate theme solve the concern the OP originally asked?
