Change/Remove Preferred number to dial?

For the life of me I swear I have long pressed or drilled down to every menu option I could find. Even deleted contacts from favorites and re-added, but I can't find where to clear the check mark on "preferred number to dial." Ussually auto defaults to that number when in Favorites and you press the green phone button. I want it to go back to asking what number to dial on the contacts I accidently checked.

Help!!!

Did you figure this out?

Get to your contacts and open up the contact you are looking to change.

Long press the number you want to be the default.....choose the third option "make default number".

Yea, got that far but want to remove any and all defaults. Thanks for responding.

Any more suggestions here? Snaz's answer only tells how to change the default to a different number. Like mtollin, I need to remove the default so that it prompts me which number to dial.

OK, I was finally able to remove the "default" check mark by deleting the default number from the contact, saving the contact, and then re-adding the number again.

This is very unintuitive.

Just a thought, Maybe go to settings>applications>manage applications....and find contacts and clear data? You may need to put your Google acct in again but once it resyncs then you SHOULD be good!
