Help Change User Information on 1st Gen Tab 10.1

I have a used Samsung Galaxy 10.1 Tablet (the first model). I noticed the former owner's name and phone number are listed as "User Information" but it is grayed-out so I can't change it. Do I need to do a factory reset? Will it recognize my apps and settings if I log back on with my Google credentials? Everything else of the former owner was erased: apps, photos, his accounts, etc.

Thanks.

Anything you synced to Google is synced under the email address you synced it under. As long as an app from your former device isn't incompatible with this tab, just adding the account (as the only account) should sync you up. (If the former owner played any games with the phone [not as in the stuff you download, but changing the ROM or the kernel, etc.] a factory reset sometimes does more harm than good. Consider it a last resort. I'd sooner reload the entire firmware of the phone than do a factory reset.)

Hi, Rukbat. Thanks.

Yes, I was trying to avoid the reset for the very reason you state, but I don't quite understand what you're saying about the former user. I am pretty sure I deleted all the apps that were his. I have my own netflix account, but I just logged his off and signed in with mine. Other than that, I don't see where the Tablet would be pulling that information from, other than Samsung's Registration. Can I re-register this tablet through Samsung? Maybe that's where the snag is? I don't have anymore of his apps on here because he was an IT person and I would never use the things he had on there. I am just worried about losing my tablet, and no one would be able to return it to me because his name and phone number are listed as "Owner."
