changing framework-res on a mac

does anyone know how to change framework-res.apk on a mac and what software do i need

Same as any other way, since the files used are the ADB from the SDK (of which there is a Mac / *nix version) and the Java SDK, again available for Mac OS as well.

After that, a standard text editor and archiving tool and that should do it.
