Changing From Verizon to T-Mobile

I would like to take advantage of the T-Mobile $30 unlimited data plan. I have searched around and seen a few options, but no great resource and I am just not sure if it is possible to use my GS3 SCH-i535 on T-Mobile. I always thought you couldn't as it is CDMA and not GSM, but can you with the ability to unlock and root?

I haven't really done much of this, but am willing to give it a try if it is possble. Anyhelp, links or information is greatly appreciated.

Also does anyone have t-mobile in the Philadelphia area? I understand that the coverage is not great, but seems like it is worth a shot fr $30 a month. Worse case I go back to V or ATT if not happy.

Don't think you can use a verizon phone on tmobile (verizon has no sim card, correct?)

According to the spec sheet on Verizon's website, if the device is SIM unlocked you should get some service. The frequencies it supports are:
Global: GPRS/EDGE/GSM (850/900/1800/1900); HSPA/UMTS (2100)

Since T-Mobile operates on the 1900 band, you should get voice, texting and 2G data on your S3. However, you will not be able to get 3g or 4g data on it because it doesn't support the correct frequencies. T-Mobile 2G speed wise is between 1x and Verizon 3G(ED-VO), but it's closer to 1x than 3G.

I have T-Mobile and live in Montgomery County, it is a carrier that is worse then Sprint and i had them for 11 years. I am counting down the days that my contract expires and I leave the uncarrier that has so many dropped calls. Especially on the PA turnpike and in the Plymouth Meeting area. RUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
