changing navigation buttons: any way to deselect recent apps?

Hi, guys, first time poster.

Just got m9 today. I had read recently you could customize the nav buttons as long as you kept "back" and "home" active. I don't remember reading about the nav menu requiring the recent apps button, though and I can't seem to deselect it. Is it possible? thanks.

WELCOME TO ANDROID FORUMS nhx !

Unfortunately,it seems that's not possible.
If you're wishing to customize the desktop/home screens,I'd recommend using a 3rd party app from the GOOGLE PLAY STORE.
NOVA Launcher gives a lot of flexibility in both look/feel & shortcuts to suit your preferences.
Check out some YOU TUBE videos for a more detailed how-to,if necessary.

I gotta go for now, waaaaay past a sane bedtime,I'll be sleep-walking at work tomorrow as-is.
I'll give this thread a look im the morning & post some links/etc.......

Once again.......

Here's a decent overview of NOVA Launcher, time coded for easy back & forth navigating to specific topics:

If this video doesn't cover "Swipe action for dock icons",here's a quick look:

This is where you should be able to supplant & add functions the stock navigation buttons lack.

Feel free to ask around, lotsa people here use NOVA Launcher,or,another launcher w/similar functionality.
I myself use HOLO HD Launcher,APEX is another one w/a similar feature set.
