Changing of build.prop version

So I want to get an old gingerbread with armv7 "miss the old version" but I have twc and watch twc TV live TV when home but its only for ics "4.0.4 I believe" so i wondered if doing this to build.prop ro.build.version.release=4.0.4 would trick twc TV into letting me watch live tv

Scratch this question my friend has a logic and with the new version of twc TV it supports live tv on gingerbread
