Changing Password

Here's the deal. I have an Android on my notebook. I can't register to any apps like Youtube as it says they can't confirm my identity. Now when I try to sign up to a new application, a gmail email shows up and I don't remember the password for it. So when I click "Forgot my password" they send me a password code, I insert it and then a note comes up they could not approve my identity. I have a back up AOL email address, and still every time I try to sign up, the gmail comes up. I'm wondering maybe it's because I don't have a cell phone, just a land line. So I'm asking how can I get rid of the gmail link and have my AOL email address be my primary email and password for my android? Any help appreciated. One note (not sure it matters) but on my desktop I use my AOL account ID and password and it works. My email is mjacobs784@aol.com to contact me.
