Help Changing ringtones for individual contacts on a ZTE Grand X4

I'm having issues with changing the ringtones.
Allow me to explain:
The phone is my mom's and she was hoping to have a different ringtone for different people, such as a ringtone to tell her when I'm calling versus when my dad is calling.

I've tried going into contacts to change it just for the individual contact. That changes the ringtone across the board.
I saw on another thread on this forum that changing the ringtone for an individual wouldn't work unless it was on the phone itself not a google contact. So I put a new contact in on the actual phone and that changed the ringtone across the board.

I'm not sure if there's a way to change the ringtone just for one contact. There should be, logically.
My mom's phone is a ZTE grand X4, Model number is Z956.

I've been working on this project for almost a week now and still can't find answers. Anybody else had experience with this problem?

We have that same phone, it should work per individual contacts using the stock contact app. You can also try installing a different dialer app that has that option

Through the contacts app that's already one the phone? That's where I changed the ringtone on one contact and it changed across the board.

You may need to do a "clear cache" on phone.
Something is most likely corrupt
