Help Charge time longer

Ive had my s3 replaced but the charger is 2 amp charger i dont think its a s3 charger as its white my one was black,it seems to be charging 2% every 5 minutes,so i put it on charge at 97% and it took 7minutes to fully charge.

The S3 and battery have a circuit built in to limit the charge to 1 amp regardless of how much over 1 amp the charger puts out.

Ok didnt know that,so does that sound like its taking to long to charge? How much should the charge go up like in 5 minutes?

Yeah that's about what I've calculated, then. Maybe up to 1.2a charge rate but I'm not sure of this and if you know for a fact it is 1a max charge rate then that is interesting to know. 1a charge rate minus the amount your phone is using... which could be 1-1.2a while gaming and screen brightness turned up, or .2a/200 mah while not in use. Just depends on what software you have running along with your signal strength.

When i'm charging its left alone not used at all but at home. So you saying it sounds normal.

Sounds normal to me, the charge actually slows down and drops below one amp after about 50% or based on the temp of the battery. Some HTC phones even stop charging once you get to 100%, while others trickle charge until the phone is unplugged.

How new is this phone, and has your phone gone through any system updates while you had it? I was playing with my battery life today on my Galaxy S3, and I deleted my batterystats.bin file (requires root) to reset how my phone tracks its battery life throughout the day, and I also downloaded a battery saving app. Those two in tandem extended my battery life to a whopping 8 hours on heavy use.

Phone was replaced with no apps just what was preloded i then charged it as the battery was about 50% and it was charging 2% every 5minutes. It has the latest system update,no problem with battery life just thought charging 2% every 5 minutes was a bit wrong.

If you're running 4.4.2 KitKat, you may notice a heightened battery use. I noticed I had a similar problem when I updated to it.

I think these phones can be very picky with their chargers. Believe it or not, but the fastest way for my phone to charge is not the stock OEM Samsung 1a charger, it's not my aftermarket Anker dual port 1.5a/2.1a charger. It is some off brand dual 1a usb car charger, brand name "Wireless", from Wal-Mart. I also have a dual 1a usb "Schosche" or some odd name I also got from Wal-Mart that still doesn't charge as fast.
