Charging cable loose

I purchased my Moto e5 Play two days ago. Carrier is Verizon Pre-Paid plan. The first time that I plugged in the charging cable, I noticed that the part that goes into the phone port is loose. It will charge if I wiggle the cord. However, I feel this is a defect and see problems within months. I took the phone to the Verizon Wireless brick and mortar and was told that this is how the phone was made. The charging cable end wiggled when plugged into their demo phone.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, have you had subsequent charging problems? Thanks...

Something does appear to be odd, never heard of an instance where any smartphone USB connection is loose by design. The metal contacts in the USB port in your phone need to be in direct contact with the corresponding metal contacts in the USB plug, primarily facilitated by friction-fit when the plug is inserted. (Apple does have a power plug involving magnetic-fit as opposed to friction-fit but it's a proprietary, patent-protected plug that's a non-issue to your issue.) If the plug isn't held in place properly, the metal contacts may or may not actually be in contact with each other so data transfers or charging may or may not be possible. That's just not normal. A loose plug now will only get progressively problematic as time goes by.

I tend to agree with @Clementine_3 Take that phone back and get a replacement that is fully functional. Bypass the counter staff, they don't appear to be too helpful and ask to deal with a manager instead. If you can't get your phone problem straightened out there, find another Verizon shop and get your phone swapped out elsewhere.

I resolved the issue. The charger cord that comes with the Moto e5 Play was defective. In fact, none of the native Moto charger cord USB ends were much better. The Verizon counter folk weren't too helpful.

So, I walked across the street to the T-Mobile folk. The T-Mobile folk figured out the solution. A Samsung USB end cord seated perfectly (no wiggle). So, went back to Verizon. Got a free Samsung cable and kept the phone.

Thank you all for your quick responses!
