Charging status

What's the difference with these statuses (while charging your phone):

100% Charging (AC Charger)
100% Full

Isn't the first one already saying that your battery is charged (100%?), why switch to that other status shortly after and state basically the same thing?

I'm confused.

Thanks

My best guess is that 100% and charging means it's not actually at 100%, just topping off the last little bit. 100% full means the phone has recognized a full charge and is no longer accepting power from the cable.

Modern phones with modern batteries (like the nexus 5) give a little bit of safety room around full charge as as a safety net to prevent overcharging. For example, if you keep your phone on the charger long after the phone has considered itself charged, it might let itself drain and recharge with a little bit of the battery, to prevent overcharging (which could hurt the battery.) What you are seeing with the difference between the two statuses is likely related to that in some way shape or form.
