I have an iPhone. I gave my old droid to my 9 yr old son. It has Wifi service only- there is no assigned number. I would like to be able to text him, possibly call him. What are my options? Things like ChatOn and WhatsApp require phone numbers for set up and Google Voice force quits EVERY time I try to set it up. Anybody know what I can use?

Hi, Welcome to the forum! :)

I use an app called 'Touch' this would allow you to text your son and send voice messages but it does not support voice calls. Alternatively you could use an App such as 'Skype' which allows you to instant message and make voice/video calls.

I do not believe that either of these apps requires phone numbers to setup :)

I hope this has answered your question, if not feel free to either register to chat with other users who may be able to help or post again using the same method you used for this :)

Matt
