ChatON will support BBM soon?

So I'm working for SAMSUNG right now in the Middle East and I'm having these training sessions for work where I learnt that it's rumored that ChatON will support BBM soon? I'm pretty sure it's a bluff because RIM will NEVER do that; it's the only reason probably why many people have a BlackBerry and secondly, I could find no such article indicating so.

Any insight from you guys?

theres rumors of RIM licensing software in an attempt to keep their heads above water for a little longer. I havnt heard anything about chaton getting it, but I wouldnt completely throw the possibility out

I kinda doubt it. Yes, ChatON is already on BlackBerry's App World now, maybe that's what they meant.

I am a very old BB user and just switched to the S3

the only thing holding me on to BB all these years was BBM and now i finally gave up on it.

that being said, it will never EVER happen that RIM will give away their only weapon thats keeping them in the market a little bit which is BBM, if that's available on other devices, most people will switch immediately to other platforms

Have you seen RIMs latest financials? They are in deep trouble. BB10 which was supposed to be out this Fall to compete with the the new Iphone and Galaxy Nexus, has been pushed to Early 2013.

One of the rumors was that RIM was going to split into 2 separate divisions. One for Software the other for Hardware (ala' Palm, and look how that turned out).

I'd be trying to get BBM on every Mobile OS platform I could.

Im not sure which market youre talking about, but Blackberry is pretty much as good as dead. Theyre doin the doggy paddle and sinking pretty quick. Between work and friends, I cant think of a single person that has gotten a new phone in the past year that was a blackberry. Heck, I dont think ive seen more than 2 people at any of the hospitals I work at with a BB.
