Cheap earphones with mic, Volume control

I am looking for really cheap earphones with mic and volume control. They are from $1 on ebay, the iPhone earbuds knock offs but I wonder if they work with android devices.

I don't listen to music on my phone but listen to audiobooks only so I don't need any fancy earbuds. Earbuds with over the head band are best but I didn't find any with mic and volume control?

So anybody tried those cheap ebay knock offs or have an idea about others?

Thanks in advance.

You have HTC One, based on your profile, right? I can only speak from "Galaxy" experience since I tested Note 2 and S4, but multifunction button and mic on iPhone headphones will work with android phones (single click to play/pause/call, double-click to skip next, triple-click to skip prev, and long click to start Google Now), but Volume will NOT work. Apple uses different resistor values inside of their remote. If you have Samsung phone, they have plenty of $3 knock offs on ebay and even amazon branded as "samsung replacement" where it's specifically designed to emulate multi-function and volume control, but I'm not sure how it will work with HTC One.

Whatever you choose, make sure it says your phone name to be fully compatible with in-line remote control.

I had to settle with 2 components. I got a Klipsch S4A with in-line mic and 1-button control. The volume control doesn't work since Google did something that makes press and hold bring up Google Now. I also got an extension cable with an in-line volume control to attach. Though not necessarily cheap ($7.00-gold plated, 90' connector and switch for stereo/mono). On top of which it adds additional cable length (by 6-12"). I like the fact that volume control is actually separate from the device. Where I can leave the device volume in the middle and adjust the nob of the in-line remote accordingly (without changing the device volume).

Hey Neo, do you mind sharing a link to that extension cable?

Hi twister. I bought it from The Source in Canada. It used to be Radio Shack here, but no longer. Unfortunately, I never found one similar to this outside of Canada.

EBay had listings for cheap ones, but they are straight connectors, not 90'. Koss also makes one (VC20) but again the connector is straight. I couldn't find one that was like the one I got (Nexxtech; which I believe is The Source's own branded product).

This is somehow true, it really depends if it is compatible with your unit:) Try and check it first before buying one.
