Suggest you check your bill after upgrading to see if you may have also had an unwanted feature attached to your monthly bill from Verizon.
At COSTCO last week I upgraded to the HTC One from my HTC Droid Incredible (almost 3 years old). The price was $50 cheaper than at Verizon.
I was looking at my 1st bill since the upgrade and somehow "Ringback Tones" option had been added to my account at $.99 per month.
Went on line to my Verizon account and was able to delete it as a monthly charge.
