Help Checking which packages within Android System use the most battery?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge running Android 7.0.

Percentage-wise, screen almost always takes up the most battery (normal for phones) and Android System generally falls into second place.

I'm not having any issues with my phone's battery life.

I was just wondering if it's possible to see which packages within Android System use the most battery?

If anyone's curious, here's the package list for Android System on my phone:

Nothing wrong with curiosity, certainly concerning what is running in your pocket ;)

You could turn on developer options (if you have not already done so) and then take a look in the "Process stats" section. This will give you a relatively detailed list of what has been using your processor (and therefore indirectly the battery). That said, this will be purely for information. given that you are looking at OS components there is virtually nothing you can do about a battery hog once you have found it.

If not already too late, your biggest battery hog right off the bat is anything and everything Knox. Another is a bit of the useless Samsung bloatware you probably won't use, followed by any carrier bloatware. Below is a list of what I've had disabled on my AT&T S7 for over a year, none of which I use, however, your preference may vary. For instance, don't disable ANT if you use radio. I use an alternate email and message client, which is why I have Email, Gmail and Messages disabled.

I don't want to root until my warranty ends so I use BK Disabler (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kunkunsoft.packagedisabler). You'll be able to disable more than just the apps available to disable out of the box (without root), plus their services. BK Disabler will also give you information on each package, as to what it's for and if it's safe to disable. It's made specifically for Samsung.

I like the thought of using an app like maybe this BK dis abler due to the fact that a dummy like me is sure to wreck his phone(s) by rooting them. Since I haven't been brave enough to try yet anyone else have experience with the above mentioned app, or one similar?

'BK Package Disabler (Samsung)' is £2.29.

I'm not keen on the idea of paying for an app without trying it, first.

I would tend to agree for the most part... However there are a few "tricks of the trade" one can use to "tighten up" some "juice hogging" wake-lock settings. Swipping recents before bed etc. Options at ones disposal depending on OS build. Root/No Root etc. But yes some things one just cant do much/if anything about. If you find yourself/youre battery % dropping too much especially on Nougat which has relevantly great "battery life." Try running an OS monitor/Log-Cat as well... Maybe a "wake-lock assessor" Help one target any given "juice-hoggers!"
 
Actually yes I myself (HAVE TRIED THEM ALL!) Lol. apks like disable services, wake-lock blocker, stop start at boot apks. ALL OF THEM! Ive learned there really is no magic apk. And Im also a "rooted super user." I wont run stock unless I have too. (Matter of preference is all) Im on a ZTE ZMAX currently. Im running Tesla rom 7.1.1 with OC'Kernel and IM ALL ABOUT SQUEEZE'N JUICE! BELIEVE ME! One good thing about most custom ROMs is extra features. A couple roms I run like aokp/DU has a built in wake lock blocker etc. So my point here is it takes battery juice to run a battery saver apk etc. The best thing one can do is test and pic a fav or two NEVER GO TO HEAVY! It just kinda defeats the purpose in saving juice! Screen brightness I keep EXTREAMILY LOW!....AGAIN PERSONAL PREFERENCE! But screen brightness is a HUGE JUICE HOG WAY TO HIGH! ie... one can squeeze quite a bit O'juice by tweakin youre average ROM stock or custom with the right settings. Hope that helps any/everyone a bit! Im not the man etc.! My advice I learned and from reading up on and testing/applying. All one can do is "DELVE IN" AND SEE WHAT WORKS FOR THEM!/Theyre device/devices. Im still learning too!
 
Well I've had BK Disabler for over a year and notice a huge improvement on battery life. In large part due to disabling KNOX. I've found it well worth the pocket change price. One thing I forgot to mention is that I also disable any analytics and campaign tracking services for each app I install.

I had an S4 for years prior, and until the warranty ran out and I rooted, I ran something called Package Disabler, but found BK is better. But I've used Samsung disablers on my S4, S7 and my son's TAB3 and have increased the battery life on all of them.

I unplugged my S7, that I'm typing this on, at 9:45 this morning, and have used it extensively...phone, notes, Facebook, texts, web, music, etc. It's now 6 pm and I'm at 30%.

I've been that root myself. I've found some apps I've stuck with after lots of trial and error. I have to have my screen bright, bad eyesight.

One app I rely on is Llama. Llama saves on juice in some respects but also helps to automate some things for me. IE: it works on cell locations, so it knows when I'm in my doctor's office or at church and mutes the sound for me, then turns it back on when I leave. When it detects my car's Bluetooth, it enables Bluetooth and turns the volume up for my music. It dims the brightness in the evening so I'll start to wind down for bed. Just makes life easier. Some of my other favs are Netguard, Silent Boot, HD Widgets and Faxfile. And I use Next Launcher cause I like the customization over some of the others I tried. But like you...I've tried em all. LOL Have both rooted and non-rooted apps I've purchased and tried for awhile, but these I've stuck with.

Oh but ofcourse to each ones own. But in respects to "extended juice" optimizations and apks that automate (Tasker) being a HUGE automisation apk for instance.. Drain more battery than just about anything! But thats whats its all about! What is one willing to give up or stick with concerning funcionalitys you like and/or things you can live without for battery saving sake! So I perfectly understand! As for me Im a batt saving BEAST. I keep sync off (I manually sync) screen brightness (LOL) bout 5%, Location off, magisk modual greenify, doze, systom config magisk mod (WHICH OPTIMIZES GOOGLE SERVICES FRAMEWORK!...LOVE IT!) I use Kernel Adiutor Mod off XDA for my custom kernels and keep deepest sleep with longes latency. I have 4 cores n keep 2-3 on.. Mostly cuz Im not a "gamer" and dont really need 4 cores rollin all the time. My cpu cores max out is 1593 (HMMMM.... THO IM TRYIN TO GET BCRICHSTER TO PUSH EM TO 1600mhz like he has on his ZTE WarpSync! hmmm... hint hint bcrichster! lol jk! I dont know why cuz I only keep cores max at like 1401-min 300mhz. BUT YA IM JUS BIT CRAZY WIT IT! LOVE SAVIN ME ALL THE JUICE I CAN. Hell I barely use my devices to talk or text. Im a BAD FLASH ADDICT! SOOOOO IM ALWAYS FLASHIN N TWEAKIN MY ROMS ETC!. Only reason I don't do things manually and have Llama do it for me is I'm probably old enough to be some of y'alls grandma and I'm forgetful. LOLOL

Your absolutly fine and TOTALLY alowed to run youre device as you plz! Lol. Im just speaking as an on topic matter and battery saving, files etc. And plz dont take this wrong but you said you have tried root youre self. Do you know what root is?! Only asking so I can help you!
 
Sorry that should have been "I've tried that ROUTE". But yes, I have a rooted Tab3, completely deleted KNOX and some other stuff, and my old S4 was rooted.

And I'm still old enough to be your mother. :p

My mother still loves to tell the story of coming home and finding her 12 yo daughter having taken the TV apart. But when I put it back together it worked. It didn't work before that. Most girls have a green thumb and like playing with Barbies. I grew up playing baseball and tinkering with electronics. I actually get an attitude about equipment. I determine its not going to get the best of me and I'll keep at it if it takes forever til I beat it. I bought quite a few cheap Straight Talk phones to play with. Made a few bricked paperweights out of them. :D
