Chicago Sprint 4G drops all the time with EVO

My hope was to be able to use my phone to stream TV in the back for the kids while driving. I would expect the signal on the major highways to be good enough to accomplish this. Instead it CONSTANTLY drops out. In the past it would reconnect rather quickly. Recently after the EVO did an upgrade it does not do that anymore. Instead an icon comes up in the tray saying Wifi antenna active. It tries to connect maybe one more time and then stops. Then you have to manually click on the 4g icon and tell it to scan for service again.

Does anyone else have problems like this? Has anyone else tried streaming and found 4G to constantly disconnect while moving?

Why is that? Coverage or the technology?

To be honest it is even annoying for my wife is she is tethering a tablet off it in the passenger seat. 4g is not working more than it is working..

One thing I notice is that if the 4G signal is weak it will want to switch to 3g that has a better signal. I find that if I shut off my 3g antenna it will stay connected to the 4g even with weak signal. I have the Evo and this is in Lincoln, NE so don't know if that will help you there.

In my experience (had my EVO for just under a year), 4G is pretty useless if you are moving (live in Chicago btw). Walking, running, biking, car, etc... The only way it is semi-reliable is if I am sitting at my desk at work and don't move the phone (although someone walking by can sometimes knock out 4G). It pretty much sucks. But since 3G data speeds are so poor in metro Chicago, sucky 4G is your only option.
