ChompSMS is hands down, the best texting app on the market. Not only is it free, but its packed with features. The customization of the app is nearly endless! The UI is not only very clean looking, but also easy to use and navigate. You can even purchase credits to use their texting service over your carrier's service.
If customization is what you are looking for you should really check this app out. Not only can you customize your conversations, but you can customize your conversation list. It even allows you to setup background pictures for landscape and portrait mode. I also like the feature of being able to change the style of the converstaion to bubbles. All the colors, fonts and bubbles are customizable. You really can make this app fit your personality.
Chomp also has nice notifications, including a widget. The quick compose option is a very nice feature, just by long pressing the camera key or the search key you can get a pop up message box that will pop up over almost any app you are using. The home screen widget one of my favorite things about this app. It gives you a nice, quick over view of your messages with the ability to mark as read, or delete them.
The UI is one of the cleanest I have seen for an app. I was very impressed by how easy it was to navigate. It also allows you to preview the changes you have made, so no going back and forth to see if you like the colors or font you have chosen.
All that being said, and that's not even half the features of this awsome app, it is definately one the the best free apps out there. Go get this app, you will love it.
