Chrome does not synchronize

newnexo

Lurker
I am posting this request here as it is not clear to me if this is a device-related problem (I have a Samsung S 10 plus) or a current Android problem. So please bear with me.

After setting up my S10+, I noticed that Chrome does not import my bookmarks (and everything else) from my Google account. I tried everything I could think of: deactivate synchronization, and activating it again, deleting the account and connecting again - nothing helped.

Is this a known problem? Does anyone have an idea how to solve this?

You can have a notebook with you, on the desktop and acutaly have the bookmarks on it, just write them down, or type them down on the word pad, ergo you will not lose them.

Before focusing on your mobile device, double-check that Chrome syncing is set up on your desktop/laptop first:

Now try again with the Chrome app on your S10+, if the same problem is occurring, try going into the Settings >> Apps menu, find and open the Chrome app listing, tap on 'Force stop' and then find the 'Clear data' button and tap on that. This deletes the app's settings/config files and the app's cache, essentially returning it back to its original, first-time used state. Now start up the Chrome app again and try to get the syncing to work.

If all else fails, you can create backups of everything you need and then import them on the S10.

Start by going to Google's 'Download your data' page, and scroll down to Products. Select whichever item(s) you want, then just step through creating their backups. I think I'd do one at a time, i.e., bookmarks, then contacts, etc., simply because it's more straightforward with less room for confusion.

Once a backup has been created [and unzipped], you'll be able to import its data into the appropriate apps on the S10.

If you need help with any of this, just ask! :)
