Chromecast 1 - stopped working on one TV, works on other.

Advice appreciated.
Have Chromecast 1 for some years. Worked fine on both my TV's.
Then stopped working on one TV - gives "no signal"
Works on other TV, and if I then change back to the other TV - no signal.
Device shows white indicator light, my android phone shows I am connected to the Chromecast, and I can initiate a cast from my apps, but - "no signal"!
Is this a resolution issue? (worked OK on same TV before)?
Anyone with similar experience?
P.S. I have a second Chromecast, but this has same problems.

Are you plugging that Chromecast directly into an open HDMI port on your TV, or is it going through a HDMI hub or some kind of device with a pass-through port?
Also, is that Chromecast using your TV's USB port for power or are you using its power adapter?

Hi Svim, thanks for quick reply. Always put Chromecast into direct HDMI port. Tried both USB and mains supply.
I seem to recall that the problem may (maybe not) have arisen after google changed the app from the original.
P.S. have been in IT for many years installing networks, Ethernet, wifi etc, so I have tried everything I can think of. D
On occasions when I reset, it quickly shows "Chromecast" - then "no signal"

Have you tried a different HDMI port on the TV? It works on the other TV, so it would seem the chromecast is OK. Maybe the HDMI port has gone south.

Only one HDMI. Works fine with my decoder and satellite HDMI inputs.
Was just googling and found a suggestion that TV was not accepting Chromecast (1) low resolution, and I should try different video formats 4:3, or others.
Can only check tomorrow.

Could there be some kind of change in your household that's affecting the WiFi connectivity perhaps? Just a wild assumption but if you moved your wireless router recently maybe its coverage range changed just enough so wherever that TV is located is just outside its limits.
Try installing this 'WiFiAnalyzer' app on your phone and use it to check the WiFi signal strength standing right next to that 'no signal' TV:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vrem.wifianalyzer

Good suggestions, but having installed many networks professionally, I have checked signal strength and download speed. Have been using wifianalyzer for years, best channels chosen.
Also, I place the second TV alongside the other - one works one does not (but it used to work with Chromecast!

Just another random thought, if you start up the 'Home' app on your phone and buried in the Device settings menu for that erring Chromecast there's a 'Factory reset' option. You'll then need to re-pair that Chromecast with your WiFi network but maybe it'll clear up whatever mystery incompatibility is going on between that Chromecast and that particular TV.

I found the factory reset - but no sucess, same "no signal" problem.
It went through all the setup, gave "chromecast found", "connected" - do you see code E226"?
Of course I see nothing on the screen, if I say no it says try again, if I say yes it says "switched back to your wifi",
Says "connected", "ready for cast"
I load app, say netflix, I see the little Chromecast icon, press, it says "casting".- but no signal!
I have tried unpugging and replugging at the HDM port, I have tried "Factory Reset" of TV with casting Chromeecast in the HDMI port.
I have toggled 50Mhz/60Mhz output on Chromecast - but no joy.
I have googled, and many seem to have issues with Chromecast and LG TV's, but I can't find any suggested fixes that work.
I feel it may be a resolution issue, in that for the HDMI port it appears to be a fixed Résolution: 1920x1080 - not being able to adjust to check the incoming resolution.
Prversly, I am enjoying working on to try to find the solution!

Welcome to the Android Forums @David Ralph! When we're not just having fun we truly enjoy solving problems. I have yet to get my Chromecast to work so I can't help but I just wanted to say you're in the right place to find an answer.

Could the brand of TV be a factor, do you think? Or maybe the phone...

Is there a minimum requirement for your phone to Cast to to your TV. Just spitballin'..

Hi - I control the Chromecast both from my phone and Ipad, so not phone issue, since same issue with both - and my Chromecast works fine on my other TV.
I think you are right about TV brand - but it used to work with this TV, and the problem only seemed to start after Google changed the old Chromecast App to Home!

..... and the problem only seemed to start after Google changed the old Chromecast App to Home!
It might not be so much a problem with Google's goofy juggling of the branding of the Home app but more of an issue with the firmware that gets auto-updated on your Chromecast(s). Since things were working OK up until recently I wouldn't be surprised if some firmware update created an incompatibility with your LG TV, which (knock on wood) might also be fixed whenever Google gets around to releasing another update. Just a wild guess on the situation.

Another random thought is to try getting a Chromecast-to-Ethernet adapter, bypassing Wi-Fi connectivity. Don't know if that has anything at all to do with your problem but just a tepid suggestion.

Thanks Svim- will check it out. But for Chromecast 1 there may be no more updates.
Not the end of the world for me as I have the other TV where it works (Bedroom) and my IPad to watch relevant channels, just annoying, and a challenge to find solution.

I have 2 Chromecast 1 - one for my French channels, one for my UK channels, and both work on my other TV in the bedroom, so I can sleep contentedly

BUT - I just connected my PC HDMI output to the TV - for years this immediately showed the PC screen image, films etc on the TV.
Now - "no signal"! Something has changed in the TV.
Svim - will check your links

Exactly! It may be that on this 8 year old TV there has been some degradation of electronics?
Yet it accepts perfectly the HDMI output from my SKY box, and also from my SFR TV decoder!
Interestingly, when I plug my Windows 10 PC into the other TV, also a few years old, it immediately detects the TV, and the PC screen is replicated on the TV.
So there is an issue with the "handshake" on the problem TV HDMI port when presented with an input resolution above or below what it demands. (no scan).
Additionally, and I did not mention this above, when I connect the Chromecast to the "good" TV, it shows the offered resolution as 720p/60!

Hard to determine something like a 'degradation of electronics -- could be a solder joint is failing or perhaps a HDMI-related component was damaged by something like a transient voltage spike from a recent power outage or brownout.
But with each revelation it does appear to be a random, intermittent, and oddly selective problem. Have you tried just unplugging that TV for an extended amount of time (to let any residual power drain away)? Could just be some glitch that will be eliminated by 'rebooting' the TV.

Yes - TV is completely powered off overnight.
I am trying to find out from TV manufacturer how to upgrade firmware, their online solution does not work.
