Chromecast - casting from Chrome

I have Chromecast up and running through my S4 running Android 4.3. However, I cannot seem to find a way to cast from the Chrome browser on my S4. Swore I had already done this with my S3.

Can this not be done? I'm assume I can browse the web on Chrome and cast it to my TV via Chromecast.

this cannot be done, crazy as it seems. chrome for android is not supported by chromecast. you can cast from chrome on a laptop.

i happen to be a google fanboy, yet i find the chromecast to be not quite ready for primetime. it's functionality is light years behind roku imo. plus, and this is a big thing, the chromecast has been known to significantly disrupt a home's wifi. it did on mine. now my chromecast sits in a drawer.

That is not right. My Droid Razor Max with the chromecast app installed lets me cast from You Tube and Netflix from my phone without problem. I have had no WiFi issues. My wife also casts from her Tablet on occasion.

I cannot tab cast reliably from any source yet. I misunderstood your comment.

yeah. it is not a matter of figuring how to cast from chrome on your phone. it simply cannot be done yet. and, you cannot cast your local files from your phone. initially at least that function existed, as a developer immediately put out an app to do just that. and immediately google shut the door.

from your laptop, it is another story. you can cast from chrome, and you can cast local media.

i suspect CC will ultimately be a kickass device. imo, it simply isn't there yet. for 35 bucks, i can't complain too much. thing is, my 35 buck roku does more than CC, except for casting a tab from my laptop.

i've always been able to watch netflix, youtube, hulu, and my own movies and home videos stored on my laptop with my roku.

Ya, I noticed when I search Google support it talked about downloading the plugin for Chrome and then the response that "your system is currently not supported". I didn't want to believe it as it seemed, to me, so obvious that it should work.

But your point confirms my suspicions.
