Clean Memory icon

Hello to you all, I have Android TV box with 4.4, at Home page it has all traditional shortcuts, My Apps, Settings and Clean Memory icon with 1 click cleans the memory, last week I got another Android TV box also with 4.4 but at Home page the Clean Memory icon is not there, did some search got me nowhere and I really want that icon on both boxes, also the OFF button doesn't work like my first box, my first box once I press the power button a window appears so I can select...
Reboot
Soft Reboot
Shut Down
My second Box I press OFF button and it only goes to black screen, if I press the button again the image appears exactly where it was when I turned OFF it doesn't boot like my first box wish Everytime I press the power button it boots up.

The 'Clean Memory' function is almost entirely cosmetic on Android devices.

This kind of app usually appeals to traditional Winows users who are used to having their RAM clogged up because of the way Windows controls it. (Which is badly!) :)

In Android you can think of the memory controller as like a conveyor belt... as more programs are opened and used the older ones are just closed and the memory is freed up automatically.

But if you really think your Android TV box will benefit from flushing your memory every now and then, there are loads of apps you can download to fulfill that purpose.

If you run KODI then flushing your Android memory also cleans out all your settings and remembered clicks, so before you click on the little cartoon rocket, be sure to close down KODI properly.

Personally, I'd stay well away from these placebo programs - especially on the cheap Android TV boxes.
You never really know how much damage they are doing or what they are... 'cleaning!'

The 'OFF' button on your remote is a 'screen off' button (standby) NOT a 'power off' button.
So when you press any button on your remote (or move your mouse) the device will wake up again from where it left off.

The only way to power off your device is to actually unplug it from the wall.
 
Exactly what it does, and I don't want to unplug, I want to properly shut down like my first Android TV Box does.
The Clean Memory icon it's on my first Android box since day one I didn't install it, I use it when Kodi starts to fail then it works, with my MXQ Android TV box I have to go Settings....... Storage........Cache...... Clean Cache.
With the icon I just click once and then I enter into Kodi
 
Unless your Android TV box has a button on it (most don't) then the best you can do is put your device in to standby with the remote control.

You can prove this for yourself by adding a USB mouse to your boxes, then putting the boxes on 'standby' (screen off) and then using the mouse only to bring them back to life .

If your first box actually did power off completely, there would be no way to restart it as it would not be able to communicate with the remote.
 
The 'clean memory' app that you want for your second box won't clear out the cache that Kodi keeps.

It sounds like you have set your Kodi app to save all the thumbnails and fan art, etc, for all your media. This is clogging up your main memory as these images soon add up and eat in to your available storage.

You can decide what stuff Kodi saves in settings and drastically reduce the saved cache.
 
Andrew Cole, first allow me to thank you for your time to help me.
Maybe I can type the brands....
My first Android TV box is Excalibur Ultra. 4.4, inside on the board it says MXQ
My second Box is MXQ Android 4.4
What I do know is the Excalibur is root and the MXQ I could be wrong but is not root both can work with either remote control.
For the MXQ I found a reini app but it doesn't work with the power button on the remote, I have to enter the app to use the shut down and or reboot.
 
To be honest I only want the Clean Memory icon, the shutdown I can live without, trying to upload images of the Android Home Page where the icon can be seen

OK back to the problem, the only evidence I have that the Clean Memory icon works for Kodi is....
When I use the Clean Memory icon then I go to Kodi, at bottom of Kodi Page it says Kodi running for first time, the most curious thing is some friends have bought the same MXQ to the same seller and some of those MXQ have the icon showed on the image, maybe is not an app, maybe is a shortcut created and I don't need an app? That is why I uploaded a photo, I can upload more of different parts of the menu if it helps.....TP

Ah ha! Now we're getting somewhere!

KODI runs for the first time every time you start it because KODI isn't shutting down properly.

When you close the KODI app it saves all the current settings so that when you restart the app, it will show all your saved settings from the previous time you used it.

When you run the memory cleaner when KODI is still open and in the memory, you are clearing out all your changed settings and preferences. It believes that it's never been run!

Believe me, these so called 'memory cleaners' do more harm than good on Android TV boxes.
 
If you click on 'My Apps' you'll find a memory cleaner in there somewhere.
If you can't find it then open the Play Store app and download one that you like.
There are loads of them - and they're all shite! :)
You can then easily add a shortcut to the app on to your start page. (The one you posted a photo of.)

Yeah, they're all the same inside.

But different brands load them up with what they think are the apps you'll want and will use.
No two boxes are alike and even the behaviour of boxes from the same re-brander will differ wildly in behaviour!

Think of them as infant children... they're bloody annoying a lot of the time but you aren't allowed to chuck them in the garbage because sometimes they bring great joy! :)
 
When I use the clean memory is before I use the Kodi, if I want to see TV I just turn on the box and if I see the clean memory icon above 70% I use the clean memory then Kodi on startup shows that message but the settings stay the same I don't have to redo my settings. I also have used the clean memory right after closing Kodi then back to kodi, the how I can have that icon on the Android Home Page is what I haven't found the answer, like I mentioned before maybe is not an app I need to download maybe the box already has it I just need to make the shortcut, but not the shortcut at bottom of Home Page, shortcut same place it shows on the photo. I used All in one tool box app I get same results but it is not just one click, again thanks for your time and help. TP
 
Install the BackUp Kodi addon, back up your KODI settings to a memory card or USB stick.
Uninstall KODI and re-install it from the Google Playstore.
Then after you have installed KODI afresh (and re-added the backup addon) you can easily import your preferred settings.

This should fix your problem.

Also: Don't take any notice of that bogus 70% memory in use sign. It's meaningless.

Seriously have you (or anyone else) ever noticed any improvement of an Android TV box after using one of these placebo apps?
Thought not.

Just try to wean yourself off these apps.
Most of them are just an excuse to display ads!

Do a bit of reading on how Android handles RAM and you'll soon realize that these things are a waste of time.

Sorry - the only customizations you can make are the ones along the bottom.
The shortcuts above that line were made by the re-brander and cannot be changed.

I was wondering the same thing found this post you can hold down the menu button or home button a the remotes u get with these boxes are different but it should be the top left or bottom left button around the arrow keys on the factory remote it will wipe your ram like the clean memory button does on the home screen
