Cleaning a camcorder lens

Android Expert
I have a JVC evrio GZ HM445... which has a few smudges and bits of dust on the lens.
How would you recommend cleaning it?

I have had a look and thinkning of getting one of these..

and one of these blowers :

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Giottos-GTAA1900-Rocket-Air-Blower/dp/B00017LSPI/ref=pd_cp_ce_1

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Polaroid-Bl...5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1341931350&sr=1-5

Obviously the Polaroid one is a lot cheaper... One of the reviews says its better to use because of the smaller size and it gives out roughly the same pressure....

EDIT : just to add more confusion , I found this blower too :

What do you guys recommend?

The Rocket Air Blower is mostly for internals like the sensor on a DSLR - won't deal with fingerprints, etc. For dust in general, a really good artist quality camel hair brush will get dust.

The camera store I use sells a liquid called ROR. You use it with a microfiber cloth. I saw a clerk selling it with a $1000 lens. I'm sure other camera stores have the same type of cleaner. Do you have a good brick and mortar camera store around? Not big box.

I use the Rocket Blower for dusting around the bobbin in an embroidery machine. You are not supposed to use canned air or anything that might have a hint of moisture. It works in small areas.

The blower was in addition to the lens cleaner, as the lens sometimes gets a lil dusty... I understand its not for smudges.

Some say the rocket blower is tooo big, but will a smaller one give the same amount of power?

As for the pens.. they all look the same, just with slightly different colours and branding..is that so ?

Not really. All I can think of is wilkinson and PC World.

I use the Rocket Blower.

Would you say it's overly big? Too big to use? Not to bothered about portability , but more about it working...

EDIT:

OK, so I bought the Hama lens pen. Figured 190 people can't be wrong. ( which is a weird thing to say seeing s if I have a DHD which , when I got it , was considerably less popluar than any iOS device ;) )

So now the the question is - do I need a blower?

I understand the need on big lenses for DSLR's, but on my inch big lens on the camcorder, is it necessary?

Since I use the blower for a DSLR sensor, telescope eyepieces, computers, sewing machine - I find the size OK.

I still like the good camel hair brush.

Still not syre... You didn't really say if you think it would be useful on a small camcorder? Will a lens pen be enough?
Probably gonna see if I find one on holiday, otherwise I'll order one off amazon when I get back.

Some like lens pens, some don't. It varies. It seems to come out like the Android/Iphone controversy. You can find pros and cons on some camera forums, also on astronomy forums.

I use the camel hair brush on eyepieces for dust since it deals with some telescope stuff like diagonals better. I will use the Rocket blower for the same. You change lenses on a DSLR, so you need to dust off camera end of lens before putting new lens on camera. It's far faster than using a lens pen for changing lenses when you are out shooting. You also use Rocket Blower to dust off the sensor.

For smears - it's the liquid and microfiber.

Since you probably use only the lens built into the camera, you would have to find what works best for you.

I was just pointing out that the Rocket blower is handy for far more than a camera lens, so size shouldn't be too much of a concern.

I see you are in the UK. Is Jessops still in business? If so, maybe you can call one of their stores?

yeah , I see what you mean: for all the things you can use it for , it's actually pretty good value.

Jessops , I think , is still around. Although I have never seen one ;)

I think , after what you've said, I'm definitely gonna get one when I get back.

Thanks so much!

EDIT: Just found out that the expected delivery of my lens pen is after the day I leave for Canada! :(
