Help Clicking hyperlinks causing certain apps to crash

Samsung Galaxy S6 SM-G920R4
Android version 6.0.1

Certain apps crash after selecting an internet link in app. Known apps include:
  • twitter
  • google image search
  • google maps
Links selected in browser (chrome) work ok.
Changing default browser doesn't help.
Reinstalling apps doesn't help.

Last two software updates had no effect.

Anyone else with this issue or a possible solution?

Welcome to Android Forums.

I assume you did a system upgrade to get to 6.0.1.

Did you do a Wipe Cache Partition (deleting temporary data and not touching permanent data, settings, or installed apps) after the upgrade?

Please post the link, as there's probably content in the site that's a problem.

OK, is this happening only using WiFi or just mobile data, or both?

Since you've got multiple apps involved, try going into Settings >> Storage and clear 'Cached data'. (Reinstalling an app doesn't necessarily wipe all of its data and cache, you need to actually 'Clear data' when uninstalling an app to remove all of its content.)

If that makes no difference try rebooting your S6 into its Safe Mode and checking if that app crashing problem continues to happen.

If clicking on a link works in Safe Mode there's likely to be some app that's the problem. Then it becomes a matter of looking through the list of apps you've installed and trying to determine which one.
