Question... I use a unlocked TMobile CLIQ that I use on the AT&T network. Calls and everything work fine, but there are a few issues I'm wondering if anyone has resolved...
1) Upon booting up the phone, I get these annoying text messages every 10 minutes saying that I've sent an "Invalid 10 digit number". Other forum entries tell me that this is either TMobile's MyFaves or Visual Voicemail trying to ping the network for updates, but complaining because the phone is not on the TMobile network. You can kill the messages by sending a text message to yourself, which resolves it until the next time you start up the phone and you have to repeat the process. Has anyone ever found a permanent solution to this one? Again, this is an unlocked TMobile phone being used on the AT&T network.
2) While I like the CLIQ, I do miss the 3G speeds when using the net applications. I'm told this is because AT&T and TMobile use different frequencies for the 3G applications. I'm wondering if anyone knows if the particular frequencies are set in hardware (soldered chips, resisters, & caps), or are they set in software/firmware (on-board configurable device)? Has anyone figured out a way to get 3G speeds on the AT&T network using a CLIQ?
3) Somewhat related to Question (2)... The Motorola Back-flip seems to be very closely related to the CLIQ. Has anyone tried to load the Back-flip firmware on their CLIQ to see if the phone is functional, and as a side-effect, compatible to the AT&T 3G network?
Thanks for your responses in advance.
