Hey guys, i didn't see a how-to on this and i personally had to go searching for this on various sites and youtube before figuring it out so i thought id write this up, for those that like to stay on AF for their need (ME);)

Before doing this, realize that this will make your phone boot into Clockwork Mod Recovery every time you power on your phone.

First, we need to download these files onto our phones.

  1. RAZR-CWMOnBoot-Global-J.Y.Daddy.zip → download link.
  2. RazrBootstrap.apk → download link.
Second, we need to install the Razr bootsrap apk.

Next, we have to move the RAZR-CWMOnboot-Global-J.Y.Daffy.zip file onto the root of the SD card.

Once the apk is installed, open up the razr bootstrap app.
hit "Bootstrap Recovery" and grant superuser access.
hit "Reboot Recovery" to reboot into CWMR

Using the volume keys, navigate to "install zip from sd card" (not apply zip from sd card) and use the power button to make the selection.

With the volume keys, scroll down to the "CWMOnboot-Global-J.Y.Daffy.zip" file that was transferred to the root of the sd card.
use the power button to select and then scroll down to "yes- install ....zip"

After the installation is complete, use the volume and power keys to navigate back 2 screens and select "reboot system now"

Once you boot back up, open the Superuser app.
Choose Razr Bootstrapper
Click on the bottom left icon, the one that has a cut in half Droid face to toggle Razr Bootstrapper's status to "denied"

Congratulations! You now have CWMR on your Droid RAZR!

Note: You will have to manually select "Reboot system now" every time you power on your device.

Think long and hard about whether this is acceptable before you do this process. For me, personally, this aspect of having to manually select reboot sucked. And there is no way I found to undo this, despite asking in several places. In the end, I bricked my phone when trying to do a Restore from this CWM after I had received the OTA and lost root.

So how do you undo this? I cannot update OTA because the reboot automatically boots into CWMR.

Edit: I have found the following instructions:

[Removing CWM on Boot]
1. Attachment file(RAZR-CWMOnBoot-Remove-J.Y.Daddy.zip) download and copy at SDcard.(/sdcard-ext)
2. Recovery boot.
3. in recovery menu: "install zip from sdcard" -> "choose zip from sdcard" -> select file.
4. reboot.
Recovery does not boot anymore.

Do you know what the latest uodate us?
Also download the the razr utility extract all run the batch file make sure you have a good connection through USB and let it do its thing when it tells you to push a button when the screen comes back on on your phone then hit any key but pay attention because it won't do it without you telling to

I had just read somewhere that Motorola put some type of counter on this Razr Maxx phone so when you root it it actually counts how many times you have rooted and unrooted. This way it can be looked at and warranty voided. Anyone else heard of this? And is there a work around to reset the counter?
