Clone Android TV box

Hi everyone I'm new to the forum and I'm new to android as well.

I had a look on the search but couldn't find anything related to it and just wanted to know if it's possible to clone an android TV box.

A perfect clone. Make it same serial, mac address etc?

The reason for this is because I have two exactly the same box (h.tv2) with one app which is blocked based on serial no of the box. (I assume based on android box serial cause that is what they asked me to give them to unlock de app but it could be MAC address as well who knows).

I would be happy to pay for the app to be unblocked on the second box but the seller no longer wants to sell the unblocking service leaving me now with a useless box.

Any help would be really appreciated

Thanks in advance

Cheers

Serial numbers might be burned into a device's chip-set, and can't be changed or cloned, all depends on the particular devices you've got, and many Android TV boxes don't have any form of electronic serial number at all. What have you got there, what's the make, model and Android version?

MAC addresses might be changed and cloned, root is required though AFAIK.

BTW ignore the posts suggesting that changing a MAC address being illegal, it's not. Changing or cloning a phone's ESN or IMEI is unlawful.

It's what I thought it was. Many of these Chinese, Android TV boxes don't usually have electronically identifiable individual serial numbers AFAIK, not like a phone which will have unique ESN or IMEI. So very likely they're going by the MAC addresses, WiFi, LAN, Bluetooth, which are individual.

It might have a manufacturer's serial number stamped on it somewhere, but that's not readable to the system or any apps of course.

Be very careful with rooting, modifying and hacking it, and do make sure you have a way to restore it, like either the manufacturer's ROM or a nandroid backup, that can be re-flashed. Don't know about this particular one, can't find any info for it, apart from what's on Ebay, but if you do manage to brick it, you may end-up having to buy a new one.

Thank you so much mate. At least I have a start point now. I will try to root my box and change the MAC address to suit the unblocked box and see if it works.

Thanks mate. Your help is really appreciated.
Cheers

I tries to root with RootMaster and KingRoot but no luck. The apps were unable to root my box. Any ideas on a way to root it?

Cheers
