I'm thinking about getting a s4 aftermarket phone and wanted to know if I could get 4g speed on it in the usa?

Its gsm: 850/900/1800/1900 mhz + wcdma 850/2100

Edge gprs hsdpa 7 2mbps, hsupa 5.76mps

Ok so if it's not then it's just 3g? How fast is 3g

For T-Mobile and really AT&T 3G and 4G are the same thing. So either you get Edge(2G), 3G/4G, or 4G LTE. Obviously you won't be getting LTE. So when in non-refarmed areas you'll be at Edge speed which is area dependent, but I believe around 200 kbps.

Ok. Because I can't find anyone in the usa with one to ask what speed they get

If you look at airportal.de, they show areas where users have reported getting HSPA+ speeds on their 1900 Mhz phones. If you notice, it is mostly in the larger cities. Also realize, since it relies on user reporting, it may not show all areas.

As for speeds, some of it will depend on the phone. In the areas shown on the map you speeds should likely be better than 2 Mbps -- and it could go up to 10x that speed, depending on the HSPA+ speed of your phone (T-Mobile supports HSPA+ 42). As others have stated, in areas that aren't refarmed (aren't on the map) you are likely looking at 200 Kbps or slower.
