Help clueless about internal memory on tablet

Hey there,
So I'm clueless about my tablet. In the settings, there are two sections about internal storage. The top one is full. I tried to d/l an app and got a "memory full" message. How could this be, as the bottom listing of internal memory says that I have 4.15G of internal memory? I just don't get it. The only apps that are on the tab are the factory ones, Google earth, and YouTube. Am I making any sense? Help!!!!
Thanks and Merry Christmas,
Kristen

It would help if you posted your model of tablet, and maybe a screen shot of what you are talking about. As well as Android version.

Lol duh...it's a dual core allwinner 4.4.2 kitkat tablet. I don't know how to send you a picture, but when I go into settings, then storage, there are two sections that show how much internal memory the tab has. The first section says that there is 1G of internal memory, but none available. Maybe 160k left. The second one has 4.15g available, and I don't understand why I can't use it. Sorry about being unclear. Thanks for answering and I hope you understand what I'm trying to say.
Thanks!
Kristen

It's possible that the maker divided the internal storage into a media storage and system memory. Though that has not been officially needed since Android 2.3, you still find some of this weirdness on cheaper chinese brands like the Allwinner. That means that the first section is listed as where the apps should install to, and can't install to the second media storage memory.
