Concerns about my Pixel 2 battery life

wackysaint

Lurker
So I got the pixel 2 just two days ago and I wasn't really getting anything remotely close to the battery life I was told about. It says I'm only getting about 10 hours of battery life per full charge whereas on other forums, I've seen people getting 16 hours +. Anyone know what might be wrong? I'm very concerned

That's just showing a prediction. What is your actual battery life (how long off charge, how much screen on time, and what are the main power users)? If you use the little 3 dot menu you can tell it to show the full device usage, i.e. including screen, radio etc. Show us some real results rather than a prediction and we'll have a better idea of whether it's normal. Don't forget to say how you set your screen brightness.

Actual device life will depend on how you use it and where (poor signal or a lot of hand-over between cells uses more power than sitting in good coverage) so it's quite hard to compare different people's usage.

If you've only just got it and have been using it heavily then the phone probably thinks that's typical, and may be predicting a short life as a result.

I heard it takes a couple charge cycles to actually get the full battery experience. Here's a new screenshot. Also, how do I check what percentage of brightness I'm using my phone at? I just switched back from iOS so I'm pretty new to Android.

You can check your brightness setting at Settings > Display > Brightness level.

It's tough to make an accurate battery life prediction based on only 10% of drain - doubly so when the screen was on for 50 of those 61 minutes. If you could, grab a screenshot towards the end of your day (when the battery level will be much lower) and we will better be able to determine how things are going.

Thanks for all your help! I'll let you know at the end of my shift what my battery life is at. I won't even use Android auto to charge my phone on the way to work. We'll see how long the battery lasts by then

Update! I am now not concerned for my battery lol
