Confused about Transformer tablet operations

I can find most but not all apps I've downloaded in the upper right corner of the display screen (desktop?). In addition to at least 1 installed app that is missing from that area, I can't find any way to get installed apps onto the desktop/display pages although there's more than enough room for them there.
