Help Confused

basically I am trying to learn how to use the tapatalk app. Fairly sure I got the right forum, not so sure about the right place to ask the question. The problem seems to be in general to Andriod rathar than a specific device. I have had music just start playing on my tablet and on my phone, for no apparent reason. Once was not long after removing the head phones, not right away but some time after walking away. Had to open google play music and stop it. Only to find it doing it again later. So, I went to app controle and shut it down that way. Never turned it back on because I was having to pay for the data it was using. When I tried to find out why it was doing it. One reason was said to be in the autoplay when inserting the head phones. Seems reasonable if you don't think about it, but in this case I was unpluging the head phones, not plugging them in. Now if I had unplugged while listening it would make sense for the app to keep playing through the phone speaker until I stop it. It stops making sense if I stop the music, pull the plug, go get a cup of coffee and come back to find my music playing. Actually it is kind of anoying if you consider it could have been playing for hours before I found it.

My tablet was playing music whenever, so I shut Google play down again using the app controle. I do pretty much mean whenever, so was suprised to see the blame being applied to an app using my music as a notifier. It would seem that the guilty app does not want to take credit for the notification. Only way to stop it was to stop Google Play Music. As permanently as I could.

This is somewhat a resent problem since it never used to happen. Is there anything I can do short of powering down every device in effort to make sure that the devices are not burning through my data in my absence.

Sorry about my spelling, just another Google/Andriod thing that I can not figure out.

5.0 on the tablet. The phone was a sg5 with whatever the latest version, or next to the latest version was. Less than 48 hours after the last update on the phone the phone died. As in, I took it off the charger with a full charge, went to use it a little over an hour later, and nothing. The verizon rep smiled knowingly plugged it in, waited about ten minutes then told me I was eligable for an upgrade if I wanted a new phone. I have decided I want my phone to just be a phone, and I am at the point where an mp3/4/vidio/player that I can turn off and on when I want to, and isn't dependent on constant data streaming is on my new christmas list.

My tablet is an rca 11.6. I use it more than any of my other toys, but as soon as I get the new music / video system which will more than likely only work with a windows based system, this tablet will simply be my net library, provided I can keep things from just turning on at Google/Androids whim. Okay, it is not their doing, but they are the ones allowing it to happen. This tablet actually made me sick that I spent the money on my other high dollar tablet. I can plug this one into my TV, and watch Netflix, and Youtube. For some reason I can't watch Hulu it won't work, but then Hulu doesn't seem to work on anything.

As much as I like my RCA they may want to consider making that MP3/4/Video Player I am starting to want, and work out a deal with someone who is willing to keep the cost of service real.

My high dollar phone suddenly turning into a rock doesn't have me in the best of moods. Does anyone know where I can buy a typewriter? It's time to get my head out of the cloud, and get back to earth.

Well I'm also confused... Are you talking about the same phone in posts #1 and #3 ? [emoji39]

Might I suggest, when the unwanted music starts playing:
  • Tap the multi-tasking icon
  • Swipe apps away one-by-one to see if this stops music (and take note of which swipe fixed it)
  • If music still plays, open settings and see what apps are actively running
  • List those apps in a reply here
Then you could look at the permissions of each of those apps to see which have permission to control audio etc...

How often does the problem happen? If it is frequent, you could also consider removing the apps one by one until the problem goes away, and then add back the non-offending apps afterwards.

I was taking about the same phone. The same problems that effect to phone seem to effect my tablets also. Except the tablets are still turning on. I am assuming the phone has other problems the tablets don't have, it might be a Samsung problem. Whenever there was an update there were heat problems. After the first major update the SD card never worked again. Unless the problems are on some sort of timer I have to assume that just about any app update could and did cause problems, because the problems would pop up whenever. The phone died after a system update. The random music playing started a few weeks before the update. Actually it wasn't too long after the update that had every app asking for permissions on startup. That the random music started playing. I assume that the update that killed the phone was entended to fix the random music playing. I was kind of annoyed to find out that in order to turn off notifications I had to do so for every app one at a time. Was actually easier on the tablets, because on the phone after turning off notifications on one app it would go back to the beginning where I would have to start over then select another app. On the tablets it was shut off one apps notifications then select another app. On my mother's phone she could shut off all of them at the same time, then turn on the ones she wanted to keep on, which was a lot faster.

It no longer matters on my phone, I am never going to buy another smart phone. I am too easily distracted, and too many times by the time I figured out how to get my phone to actually let me make a phone call I had forgotten who I wanted to call. For me it is not safe to have the phone and computer in the same devise.

My tablets are inexpensive. I've got 170$ invested in both of them, bought both on sell. If it gets to the point that Android won't won't let me do anything but read and watch commercials, or decides to out grow my tablets, I'm going back to my PC. If they break I won't be happy, but it won't be like I lost two weeks pay. My high dollar phone up and dies because they can't seem to update it without cooking it, and their attitude is dude it's a phone they die, you buy a new one. That's just how it is. Relax, your eligible for an upgrade.

Rob, yours is a good idea. I wish I had thought about that while I was trying to shut down Google play music from the apps manager at 4 AM. It would have been a lot easier provided the offending app needs to be open to send a notification.
