Confusion regarding SGS3 Verizon vs AT&T

I was hoping I might get some clarification or guidance here. I am currently a longtime (5 years) iPhone user who is about to jump ship to the Galaxy S3. I'm currently on AT&T and am not thrilled with their coverage and have to deal with, what I consider, an unreasonable number of dropped calls.

I saw the thread here about Verizon signal strength on the S3 and got a little concerned as there seems to be a vibe that VZ doesn't play too well with the Galaxy. Is this the case for AT&T as well? Or does the radio in the S3 work better with AT&T?

Also, a consideration is that, if I stick with AT&T, I can still SIM swap with my iP4 whereas if I get a VZ phone I'm stuck with that phone for better or worse.

Does my question make sense? Hope someone can clear this up a bit for me!

Thanks!

Hey, I'm sure you'll be happy with the GS3! Depends on where you live I feel.

I have an AT&T GS3 in Philadelphia area without LTE yet but I get awesome service coverage! Calls are crystal clear and I'm almost always 3+ bars.

My buddy has a Verizon GS3 and LTE for Verizon does exist here in The Philly suburbs and he has complained to me several times about having poor reception. It really could be location though...

Signal is a matter of carrier + radio firmware that is released.

Some radios firmware is better for handling cell signals and some is better for handling wifi. I am on a GS3 ATT and in Dallas and to date I have not dropped 1 call, and in fact have gotten better service in areas where my Skyrocket had issues.

I would stick with AT&T just due to the fact of the messed up data plans that Verizon has and how much more you would end up paying with them.

Like you rotobadger, I have been a life time ATT customer. I finally jumped ship with a new contract with Verizon last week. Since the move I have been kicking myself for waiting so long. I'm in the Central FL area and everyone around me who was Verizon always had great reception. Now I finally know what I have been missing. My ATT contract which is still active can't compete. For me V > ATT :)
