Help connect my ace to usb in my car

i cant connect my samsung ace to my radio in the car when i connect the cable it is charging but nothing else it keeps making these sounds i think they are like the identifying or installing sounds and on the interface of my radio it keeps switching from usb front to regular radio station same thing happened with my friend on his sony xperia but when he connects a pop up shows up so he can choose like usb storage mode and it worked for him

my question in brief how do i access this pop up thing to tell it to use it as a music player on my car radio
