Connected no Internet issue on home WiFi

I have a strange problem that is frustrating the hell out of me.

My new Xperia XZ connects fine / stays connected to my work WiFi all day and works like a dream. But when I come home it doesn't do the same with my home WiFi. Every so often it says "connected no internet". So I have to regularly keep switching off and on the WiFi on my phone to get it to connect to my router properly.

However, even when I do this and it actually says it's connected, I still have trouble browsing and streaming media. Even setting up an account on here I had to do using my old phone because when I pressed submit it said the webpage couldn't be displayed. Soooo frustrating!

I don't have this issue with any of my other devices (laptop, desktop, tablet and 2 other mobiles) so I'm sure it's not my home router and like I said it works absolutely fine on my work's WiFi so why does it have an issue with mine???

I've tried changing my date and time settings to automatic / use network provided time as I've seen this advised on previous threads but it didn't make a difference.

Can anyone please help me? I'm going out of my mind lol

Have you actually tried restarting the home WiFi router, removing power, then plugging back in? It could be acting funky for one device, even though others seem to be OK.

What kind of wireless router do you have? Is it an ISP supplied modem/router box or do you have your own separate wireless router? Also, can we assume you've already gone through the basic steps of deleting your home WiFi setting on your phone and re-adding it?

If your router allows you to set up a guest network try setting one up (using the same configuration settings as your primary network), connect your Xperia to that guest network, and see if after a day or two how that works out.

If your Xperia is still having WiFi issues using that newly setup guest network than there could be a problem with some configuration setting in your router that's just conflicting with your Xperia. Yes all your other devices don't have this issue so it could just be something specific to your Xperia. You might want to read through this home network set up guide. It's long but thorough:

Also, this 'RouterCheck' app is a nice way to check your router is setup securely:

A more drastic step is to just reset your router to its defaults and set up a new, clean SSID. It's a pain, since you have to pair up all your other devices to the new WiFi network but there's obviously some issue going on between your Xperia and your current home WiFi network.

I've had the same problem ever since the last Android update and I think I fixed it (fingers crossed - it's worked for over 24 hours now). I think the main problem was memory (Settings, Storage - if there's hardly any storage left start deleting some apps or photos). After I deleted the biggest apps and got more memory back, I restarted the phone and that seemed to fix it. At some point I also unplugged & replugged my home router too - I don't know if that made a difference though.
