Help Connecting phone to PC causes BSOD

So today when i connected my phone (LG Volt running Lineage 13) to my PC (Windows 7 64bit) it instantly Blue Screen Of Death. I never had the problem previously and everything worked fine. Here is the weird thing though, when i connect via PTP (for android studio) it works fine, nothing happens. Its only when i connect via File Transfer that the PC crashes. Ive uninstalled and reinstalled LG drivers and that didnt work, ive rebooted my phone, nothing, ive tried different USB ports, nothing. If anyone could help out that would be great! :)

I prefer to use the AirDroid app on my phone to do any file transfers with a computer. It does require both my phone and target computer to be on the same local network but I find it a lot more convenient (no need to always have a USB cable on hand, no driver issues depending on the OS along with the associated admin/user permission requirements, no PTP/MTP/mass storage settings to fiddle with, and the platform is irrelevant -- Linux, Mac, Windows, etc.) and safer (no direct connectivity).
Only need the AirDroid app on my phone and a web browser on the computer (doesn't matter which - Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Konqueror, Edge, IE, Safari, etc. all work) so there's no need to install. Some insist you need to sign up with an AirDroid account to use the app but that's incorrect, that's only for if you want to do online, remote file transfers (through their servers). I've been using AirDroid for years now without one, it's fully functional just using a local network -- start up the app on your phone, type in the indicated IP address : port number into the computer's browser, and then all file transfers (to or from) can be done through the computer's browser interface (all done on the LAN side of the router as the app is linked to your browser, not the Internet).
