Help Connecting Samsung Galaxy Ace I to Mac USB Kies

Hi everyone,

I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace I (bought in 2012). I need to transfer my contacts to a Mac USB Kies in order to change my handset. On the Samsung website I can see that only Kies 3 is downloadable for Mac and it does not recognise my mobile.

In an other forum I found out that, also if I'm going to use a different laptop, it's unlikely Kies 2.6 would support a Samsung Galaxy Ace I. Is that correct?

Do you know any other way I can transfer my contacts to a laptop?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Alessandra

Well, you don't need to go to another laptop, you can do it on your Mac with Android File Transfer, but first you need to export contacts as a VCF file. It's not difficult, and you can handle it yourself.

Step 1. On your Samsung Galaxy Ace, go to Contacts app and tab Contacts tab. Tap the virtual button left to the main button to show the menu. Then, In the pop-up menu, choose Import/Export > Export to USB storage or Export to SD card (it means external SD card). Then, all contacts will be saved as a VCF file on your SD card.
Step 2. Install Android File Transfer on your Mac. Connect your Samsung Ace to Mac with a USB cable. Run Android File Transfer. After detected, this software will mount your Samsung Ace as a external hard drive. Then, find the VCF file and copy it to your Mac.
Step 3. Then, when you get a new Android phone, you can copy and past the VCF file to its SD card and follow the first step, and choose Import from USB storage or Import from SD card to get the contacts back.

PS. If you want to use some software on the laptop, you can try MobileGo, Mobogenie, MoboRobo, etc.
