Connecting to my desktop

So here's a question for you guys. I'm new to android and I'm looking for an app or combination of apps that will allow me to do a few things on my home PC.

I'd like to be able to do the following from anywhere, not just my home network:

-Access my desktop via remote desktop
-View (and possibly edit) documents/pdfs on my PC
-Stream music from my PC

I've been doing some research and it seems there are a few options for what I'm trying to accomplish, so I'm hoping you folks can point me in the right direction.

I've read more positive reviews for phonemypc than any other app that does what you want.

Dropbox will do 1 and 2 - free for the first 2GB. Haven't tried it yet (still waiting for my Incredible to show up) but supposedly sync files on your phone and PC as they change.

Definitely PhoneMyPC. Easy to set up, versatile, and a snap to use. Amazing pinch/zoom puts the icing on the cake.

Yeah phonemypc seems to be best one. I've tried remote RDP and Android VNC. RDP would never connect for me. Android VNC worked but wasnt too fast. Phonemypc runs pretty smooth and is fast. Touch commands a lil buggy but not bad.

DropBox DOESN'T sync files. Files that are in your dropbox sync between PC's and Macs but phone only gives you access to these files. When you "open" a file it downloads to your SD card. If you make changes then they are not sync'd with the desktop.

Not sure about streaming, but I use the following combo's, mainly cos they fit with the way the rest of the family's laptops need to access stuff:

TightVNC server running on the desktop. Then with androidVNC I can access the PC and use it as if I were in front of it. Poorly (no phone is good for VNC really) but at least I can do it. More to the point, I use VNC to be able to view my kids laptops to spot-check what they are doing. With this set-up I can VNC into the desktop and from that open another VNC into one of the laptops.

Cerberus FTP server running on the desktop and AndFTP on the handset allows me access to all the files on all the shared drives on the network from anywhere I have an internet connection. Basically does the same as DropBox but no limit on the total file size.

For both of these I use dynadns.org to convert my dynamic DNS to a fixed address.
