Help Contact display pictures

Is there any way of maintain the image quality of a contact display picture? It always seems to get reduced for some reason.

I save it to my GOogle contacts and then it gets synced to my phone. I don't know if it would make a difference if i saved it to my phone directly

thats what i do and its still reduced quality.

Its very disappointing. It looks quite nice in the Contacts/messages, but when you make a phone call its horrible.

Maybe if I convert it to PNG it can reduced the quality of a JPEG

i think the pic is configured to look nice in the menu not once they call up bad decision
