How does one transfer contact groups from old android phone to a new android phone ?

If you already use Gmail they will be there when you login to the new phone

Don't know if I will succeed in getting my groups from the old phone.

It should work if you have your contacts synced with your Gmail, you can simply sync your contacts on the new phone:

Tried your suggestion. But only contacts were imported to the new android device. The groups on the old phone remains elusive.

Contact groups were on the phone. I am unable to save it to google. On the contacts are gettjng uploaded to Google.

Contacts went to Gmail, without the groups.
