Android Question

Hi, I've just got a Samsung Galaxy S3 and I'm having a small yet infuriating problem with the contact lists:

I allowed the phone to sync all my google, facebook and linkedin contacts which was a bit of a mistake as all of a sudden there were more folk in my contact list than I was likely to call (mainly linkedin contacts tbf). I then deleted/hid all the contacts that I'm not likely to call which sorted the list to a degree. The problem is that when I go to add recipients for a text message every single google/facebbok/linkedin contact is there in the list, even folks from google who were never in my contact list but may have been CCed on emails years ago. I've had a look at obvious contact and messaging settings but can't see why it is doing this.

In summary, the contact list within text messaging is an enormous bloated list of everybody I have ever contacted digitally whereas I want it to mirror the actual contact list. Any ideas on how to help?
