Contact Widget disappears a minute after creation

Good Friday morning.
I have an issue occurring on my Galaxy S4 and I would appreciate some insight and\or advice.

To the best of my knowledge, everything works just fine (on my phone.)
The phone has Android version 5.0.1 installed.

The issue has to do with a contact widget disappearing from the home screen a minute or so after creation.

I can successfully create a contact widget on my home screen.
And after creation, I can tap on it and it works.
But a minute or two after creation, the widget disappears from the home screen (all on it's own).

I have other widgets on my home screen, and none of them disappear.
It's only the contact widget.
Of note:
The contact widget is one of three widgets in the "Contacts" widget group that came installed on my S4.
I experience the same disappearing act regardless if I choose a "contact", "Direct Dial" or "Direct Message" widget from this group.

They all get created.
They all work perfectly after creation.
But they all disappear a minute or two after creation.

Any ideas as to how I may be able to do to stop the widget(s) from disappearing ?

Thanks

My first thought was whether you had moved the app that produces the widget to SD - that will break widgets (though the behaviour is different from this). But if it's a built-in app it surely wouldn't let you do that, so I guess we can scratch that.

Alright then.
Methinks I have stumbled upon a solution for my issue.

The solution ?
The contacts that I choose to use with the Android "Contact", "Direct Dial" and Direct Message" widgets, need to be on the Android device itself rather than in the cloud somewhere.

By default, every contact I create when using my phone, defaults to the location of my Google account.

So, all I needed to do was ....
Create a new contact and choose "Device" as the location for it.
Then, reference this device based contact via the "Contact", "Direct Dial" or "Direct Message" widgets.
That's it.

I've tested the above using several device based contacts and none of them have disappeared for almost 6 hours now.

I hope my experience might be of some little help to others.
