I assume it's the particular service provider's voicemail service.
@LeithR, can you tell us who your service provider is, and how you contact the service (phone them directly, long press on the "1" key on the phone keypad, click a button on a notification)?
Have you checked that your phone app has the full voicemail number is set correctly in the phone app's settings? That's the simplest reason for it not to work.
Thanks lunatic59, I recently changed from talktalk where the voice mail retrieval no was 121 to o2 but they didn't tell me that the VM number had changed.
