Contacts are sloooowwwww on my droid X

Hi androidians-

This is my first post. I'm an android noob.

I've had a Droid X for a couple months now and I love it, EXCEPT that any time I need to look someone up it takes forever for my contact list to load, and even then when I try to go to search it takes a long to to show up.

Any thoughts? Recommendations?

How are you performing the search? When I first got an android phone, I would scroll the through the hundreds of apps in my list until I got to the name I wanted. Currently, I either "star" the contact, or I use the search button in the lower right corner of the phone, with the magnifying glass on it, and begin to type the name until it comes up on the screen

I usually either push the magnifying glass button or the menu button and then search.

OP: have you tried hitting the star in tre upperright hand corner of the contacts you call frequently? It will give you a shorter list to work through
