One V with ice cream sandwich 4. I have sorted my contacts in gmail via laptop and would now like to get them onto the phone. Every time I try I somehow get an old version uploaded from somewhere. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

Ed, welcome to Android Forums :hello: If you had another Android device before, the old version is probably syncing from Google (Google contacts). If that's the case, you can delete them out of People and re-sync. It will also remove them from Google's server. Then import the new ones and make them either phone or Google contacts. If you do the latter, they will sync with Google's server.

many thanks sorted at last. Now to find which app is causing Calendar to crash with frightening regularity...

Try clearing all data for calendar under Setting > Apps > All apps, and then re-syncing it.
