Android Question

Hi, I have a samsung galaxy note GT-N7000. A while back my friend told me to not update to the next android (which was 4.1 I think) because quick battery drain or something. I ended up postponing updating for a while, but when I wanted to update it said connecting to server and after that no new updates found. I didn't bother then because everything was working with android 4.0.1/2/3.

This morning I woke up seeing that my phone updated and said I needed to confirm the terms of conditions etc. So naturally I did. But my phone had a lot of problems. The android version was still 4.0.3. the lock screen does not function, if I lock, screen goes black, if I press any button, screen goes on (even after changing settings to pattern or code). All my contacts are gone, except for 4 of them that were on my sim-card. some of the settings, like wifi on/off, gps and screen turning were changed. My background was changed to the basic one. If I press and hold the on/off button only turn off and restart appear instead of the +-7 options before. Swype is not there anymore and it reverted to the samsung-keyboard. Most important contacts are still in whatsapp (only their numbers though) so that helps, and all my apps are working just fine.

It still won't update to a different version.

This really boggles my mind and I have no clue what to do. How did this happen and what can I do about it?

Greetings,
Martijn
