Help Contacts not backing up to Google

When adding new contacts, they do not back up to my Google contacts. I have all other syncs off except for Google Contacts but they only stay on the phone.

Does anyone know how to make this work?

Click on the Contact Type dropdown and select your gmail account from the list. The default is to add to Phone so that won't synch to gmail.

To add a gmail contact to an existing phone contact, edit it and then select New contact from the menu and select gmail for it's type. Copy and paste the info from teh phone contact and then it will synch to google.

You can separate the two and delete the phone entry later if you want, otherwise they will stay joined on the phone.

I'm beginning to think there's something wrong with the version of android we have. If I add a contact in my fascinate. It never shows on the spectrum and vice versa. But. If I put my Google account on both the fascinates I have. Contacts sync between then shortly after the new contact is created
