Contacts not showing in Google maps search

Anyone else ever had this problem? Google maps always used to show my contacts in the search, ie if I typed in "Tony" it would bring up that contact's address and I could select it. For whatever reason now, when I type even the full name of the contact, there is nothing to select, and it will just suggest a business with a similar name.

It looks like Google is trying to focus more on navigation than maps. If you open Navigation all your contacts with an address has it's own screen now. Just swipe the shortcuts screen to the left to see all your contacts with addresses. I don't like it either.
Of course you can always use Google Search (Apps / Search) on the phone. Type in a name and it will show up in the dropdown suggestions. Choose it and scroll down to the address and tap the map icon.

I was having the same frustration due to the unpublicized stupid change.

Considering how often you might want to search to get directions without navigating, dumb change.

Even dumber, it seems Navigation is requiring me to turn on the GPS. I just want to see the steps from my house to someone else's! It also isn't offering public transportation as an option. Fail.

I guess I will have to get into the habit of starting from contacts instead of from maps.

Old thread I know but this is a real pita on the Note 2 for users who use the S Planner (samsung diary) app. This useful and integrated app is great until you have to put in a location for your next appointment. The information is probably in the contacts info so it would be great to be able to add the contact rather than having to actually leave the page to go into the contact itself to get the address. It needlessly forces me to duplicate data input. This feature used to be very useful on my Desire.
