Help Contacts not syncing at all

Xperia z3 d6653 marshmallow on rooted existenz rom.

Since past some days my google account aint syncing my contacts at all.

Just now I finally removed /deleted my google a/c from android phone and re added but still everything gets synced except contacts.
My contacts are still dead blank!!

I tried clearing contacts data etc but no luck,

Now do i have to format my phone for such stupid issues?

UPDATE

I also completely formatted my phone and wiped everything like internal data, cache, dalvik, and did factory reset and wiped internal memory too.

Still same issue.



The first time this factory reset phone came online on wifi i signed into my google account and only first time the contacts synched but after that its same old story.

You could make a second dummy account and test that. If it syncs, then the issue is not with the phone but with a configuration in your google account online

Look in Settings - Account - Google ..and see if anything called Contacts are unchecked, turn everything on and hit Sync Again..
